Nine pairs of the country's best allotmenteers take part in The Big Allotment Challenge, a brand new series hosted by Fern Britton.Over six weeks they are put to the test, as they attempt to harvest prize-winning fruits, vegetables and flowers for show day. Plus, their preserving skills will be tested to the limit as they are challenged to produce jams, chutneys, cordials, pickles and jellies.
Fern Britton presents the third round of the competition, with seven contestants remaining in the race to be crowned Britain's best amateur gardener. They must present Jim Buttress with five perfect pods of peas, while Jonathan Moseley sets them the tricky task of growing lilies and incorporating them in a floral candelabra. For their final challenge they have to use their produce to make dips and crisps for Thane Prince, before the three judges decide who will leave the competition.
