Projects

HELPING HANDS is a community-based volunteer group out of Oak Park UMC to assist with personal emergency needs.  In the past they have done brush removal, mowed yards, done home repair, and things like that.  Each request is individually assessed as to need and whether the church has volunteers available to meet the request.

DERT is the District Emergency Response Team and coordinated through the conference-wide Volunteers in Mission program.  They have gone to Miami to assist through the flooding crisis and work with the community emergency response teams.  Our pastor and missions coordinator are very active in this group.

VOLUNTEERS-IN-MISSION, which responds to mission needs anywhere.  For the past few years, a group has gone to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to do building, tiling, etc. on Casa Esperanza – a home for those families who have a member going through cancer treatment at the University of New Mexico Hospital.
