Ministry Staff
PASTOR DAVID STEWART is a hometown boy, born and raised right here in Bartlesville, where his parents were both in Elementary Education. Graduating from College High School, he attended Oklahoma City University where he received a B.A. in Philosophy. During college, he and friends would perform as opening acts in various coffee houses for a little extra money (very little!). He worked summers as a staff member at Methodist Canyon Camp. He then attended seminary in Denver, Colorado, enjoying skiing and technical rock mountain climbing in his free time.
Following seminary, he and his wife, Jane (also a Bartlesville native) became a part of the Oregon-Idaho Conference, where he served for thirty years in ministry. They served at six churches during that time, from on the Columbia River, the high desert plain of Central Oregon, the beautiful southern Oregon coast, and along the Snake River in Idaho. While serving in fulltime ministry, David received an M.S. degree in Counseling from Oregon State, and an Associate of Arts degree in Music and Performance from Treasure Valley Community College.
He and Jane returned to Oklahoma in 1998, serving at Southern Hills UMC in Tulsa for eight years. During that time, he attended four summer school sessions at Southern Methodist University/Perkins to gain his certification as a Minister of Music. From Tulsa, David was appointed in 2005 as the pastor at Oak Park. His wife, Jane, works in Tulsa at the Oklahoma United Methodist Foundation office, 21st & Lewis in the BOK building. The Stewarts have two married daughters, one in Portland, Oregon, and one in San Francisco. They have three grandchildren, all under the age of three. David sings in the Bartlesville Choral Society. Both Jane and David are active in attending the arts through Barlesville Broadway, Bartlesville Symphony, OK Mozart, and the Tulsa Opera.
